I was at the most recent Gallery One Artists event, when I happened to notice that a woman had bought one of my pictures.  I introduced myself as we began to talk.  She explained that she had bought the picture for her friend because of what it had meant to her.  And when I met her friend she proceeded to tell me about her missonary work with women in China.  She had come one time to an swarm of caterpillars outside her home, and everything she tried could not get rid of them.  One day  a friend’s child came and asked to collect some of the caterpillers in a jar.  She asked “Why?” and the child responded “Because they will be Butterflies one day”.  Suddenly she realized that she had been treating these caterpillers the same way the world had treated the women she had been counseling.
